East Cavan Gaels score big Ulster junior hurling championship win

Castleblayney progressed to the Ulster intermediate hurling semi-final after an impressive win over Middletown.

The Monaghan champions scored a 17 points to 1-13 win over the Armagh champions in the athletic grounds. Blayney had bossed the first-half leading 11 points to six at half-time.

However, the Armagh champions fought back. Rory Grimes goal half-way through the second-half had Middletown on for a victory. However up stepped Niall Garland to convert an injury time free and send blayney through.

Garland spoke to Fergal Monaghan after the game.

Elsewhere, East Cavan Gaels had far too much for Omagh St. Enda’s in their Ulster junior hurling championship meeting. East Cavan Gaels winning out 6-10 to 1-14. Gales will face St Mary's Rasharkin of Antrim in the semi-final.

Whereas, Inniskeen bowed out after a 3-33 to 1-7 defeat to Ballinascreen.
