The final eight teams in the Kiernan Service Station Cavan senior football championship are now known.

However, the quarter-final line-up is yet to be decided after the Castlerahan Crosserlough match was postponed, following an earlier incident.

Going into the day, Crosserlough, Gowna, Killygarry and Kingscourt stars were all guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals.

By the days end, Ramor United, Larragh United Cavan Gaels and Ballinagh had all joined them. The only change to the top-eight was Ballinagh replacing Lacken in eighth place.

Ballinagh sealed a place in the last eight with a 16 points to 10 victory over Lavey. The sides were tied at six-points apiece at half-time.

Two points each from Niall McDermott and Shane Finnegan helped Ballinagh to a six point victory. The win moved Ballinagh to four points and a score difference of -4.

Cavan Gaels beat Lacken

Lacken started the day in eighth place in the league table. However Cavan Gaels had too much for Lacken, leading nine points to 12 at half-time.

Daniel Graham found the Lacken net three minutes into the second-half. Lacken rallied with two goals, but Gaels were never in serious trouble. Gaels winning out 1-18 to 2-11 to secure a quarter-final place.

Lacken miss out and go into the relegation play-off.

Ramor United secure quarter-final spot

Ramor United went into the game in fifth place with four points on the board. A draw with Gowna would secure Ramor a top-eight finish. Gowna had already qualified.

Ramor were always in control leading six points to three at half-time. Mark Magee’s goal two minutes after the restart took the wind out of Gowna. Ramor went onto win 1-13 to 0-9.

Laragh United smash Mullahoran to make next phase

Laragh United made no mistake in their game with Mullahoran to book a place in the quarter-finals. Larragh winning out by 12 points, 2-16 to 1-7.

Kingscourt move into top spot

Meanwhile, Kingscourt moved into top spot in the league table when they beat Killygarry 3-13 to 2-11.

Both sides had already made the quarter-finals. The win moves Kingscourt top of the table. Crosserlough will meet Castlerahan in a rearranged fixture. While Castlerahan cannot progress, A win for Crosserlough would see them take top spot.
