Kingscourt Stars reached the Cavan senior football championship semi-finals following a 0-13 to 0-8 victory over Lavey at Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday.
Kingscourt led by two points after ten minutes of play but Lavey hit four of the next six scores to level the game at six points each by half-time.
Last year’s beaten finalists restored their two-point cushion within seven minutes of the restart thanks to points from Barry Reilly and Peter Corrigan.
Six minutes later Shane Tierney replied with a point for Lavey which left the smallest of margins between the sides.
Kingscourt responded impressively and points from Philip Tinnelly, Barry Reilly and Barry Tully made it a five-point game with seven minutes left.
The sides traded a point each thereafter as Kingscourt held on for a five-point victory which sees them through to the semi-finals.
