Kingscourt Stars maintained their perfect start to the Cavan senior football championship beating Lacken 2-11 to 1-9 at Dolan Park.
Lacken led 1-6 to 1-5 at half-time. Lacken's Mark Wilson scored a goal five minutes in before Kingscourt's Joe Dillon found the net two minutes later.
Barry Reilly gave Kingscourt a four-point cushion on 52 minutes before Donal Finnegan brought it back to a two-point game deep into injury time.
Reilly’s last-gasp goal sealed victory for Kingscourt as the Stars claimed a third straight victory.
Meanwhile, Crosserlough are in the same boat after holding off a second-half comeback from Mullahoran to win 4-10 to 1-14 at Ballinagh.
Crosserlough led 3-4 to 0-9 at half-time. James Smith, Brandon Boylan and Oran Rehill with a goal each.
Emmet Boylan added a fourth goal six minutes into the second half. Suddenly Jimmy Higgins’s men were nine points clear.
Cormac O’Reilly goal on 49 minutes was the springboard for Mullahoran’s comeback but the Dreadnoughts still fell short in the end.
The results see both Kingscourt Stars and Croserlough progress to the quarter-final with a round remaining, as both teams have six points in the league table.
