Three red cards and two black cards in bruising encounter

Kingscourt Stars downed Cavan Gaels by four points to book their place in the Kiernans Service Stations Cavan SFC semi-final.

Kingscourt winning out 1-10 to nine points in a game with a lot of needle between both teams. Which at times spilled over.

Kingscourt led 1-4 to five points at half-time. The Kingscourt goal landing on 19 minutes through Peter Corrigan. The Gaels had led from the opening moments and were three points to two ahead before the goal.

Cavan Gaels scores coming from Jack Tully, Paul O’Connor 0-2 (1f), Padraig Sexton and Evan Fortune. While Kingscourt had Barry Reilly to thank for three points and one from Jordan Morris as they led 1-4 to five points at half-time.

Jack Tully brought it back to a one point game in the opening minute of the second-half. The advantage swung toward Gaels when Barry Meade was shown a black card on 38 minutes.

Gaels couldn’t take advantage however and Favor Shehu was shown a straight red on 40 minutes. Luke Molloy sent over the equaliser a minute later.

Kingscourt took the game by the neck in response. Barry Reilly converting two frees to move two points clear on 45 minutes.

County star Padraig Faulkner made it a three point games moments before Cavan Gaels were reduced to 13 when Emmanuel Shehu saw red for a second yellow.

Jordan Morris, Cian Shekelton added a point each for Kingscourt, as they moved 1-9 to seven points ahead on the 60th minute.

A Paul O’Connor free pulled the game back to a four point game. Shekelton added an insurance point for Kingscourt.

Three Red Cards

Gaels added a final point in the fourth minute of injury time, moments before Levi Murphy saw red as Cavan Gaels exited the championship with just 12-men.
