Conor Smith’s last-gasp free saw 13-man Killygarry overcome Kingscourt Stars to reach the Cavan senior football semi-finals
Kingscourt led 2-7 to 1-7 at half-time before an improved second-half display saw Killygarry win 2-16 to 2-15.
The sides traded three points each during the opening 13 minutes. Six minutes later Killygarry moved four points clear when Daniel Walsh found the net.
Kingscourt’s Joe Dillon responded with a goal on 22 minutes and Barry Reilly added another goal seven minutes later. Giving Owen Lennon’s side a three-point cushion at half-time.
17 minutes after the restart, Darragh Lovett narrowed the gap to a single point. Three minutes later Killygarry took the lead when Martin Reilly finished to the net following an excellent move.
Killygarry’s Martin Reilly was shown a second yellow card in injury time, 60 seconds later Jordan Morris levelled the game.
Jody Devine’s side were reduced to 13 men when Oisin Brady was sent-off. It didn’t prove detrimental as Smith showed nerves of steel to land the winner right at the death.
