Killygarry turned the tables on Cavan Gaels with a second-half comeback to record a surprise Cavan SFC victory.
Killygarry winning out 1-15 to 14 points after Cavan Gaels had led 11 points to five at half-time.
Cavan Gaels led five points to two after 10 minutes. Padraig Sexton and Paul O’Connor with two each and one from Jack Tully. Darragh Lovett sending over Killygarry’s two points.
Luke Molloy, Paul O’Connor and Jack Tully all added a point each as Gaels stretched it out to eight points to two on 15 minutes.
Conor Smith and Martin Reilly brought it back to a four point game by the 20th minute.
Two Padraig Sexton points and one from Jack Tully pushed Gaels further clear. Oisin Brady’s point a minute into injury saw Gaels lead 0-11 to 0-5 at half-time.
Emmanual Shehu opened the second-half scoring with a point after three minutes. Howerer, thus begun the Killygarry rally.
Darragh Lovett, Cian Keaney 0-2, Darragh Kennedy and Oisin Brady made it 13 points to nine on 42 minutes. Paul O’Connor having scored a point for Gaels.
Then came Cian Keaney’s goal on three-quarter time and it was a one point game. Conor Smith equalising four minutes later.
Paul O’Connor’s free restored Gaels lead, but Conor Smith fisted the equaliser seven minutes from time.
Oisin Brady converted a 55th minute free to move Killygarry ahead for the first time in the game. Brady converted another free two minutes later.
Cian Keaney and Darragh Lovett sealed the victory in injury time as Killygarry sealed a comeback win 1-15 to 0-14.
The Cavan championship continues on Friday night when Lacken face Castlerahan in Kingspan Breffni at 8:15pm.
