Killanny missed out on an Ulster club intermediate football championship semi-final place following a narrow defeat to Liatroim at Pairc Esler Newry.
It was a tight battle throughout. The Down-based side led 0-4 to 0-3 at half-time and ended up winning 0-9 to 0-7.
Liatroim started impressively with two points inside the first three minutes. Eddie Walsh opened Killany’s account 60 seconds later.
Pearse Og McCrickard pushed Liatroim three points clear on 22 minutes. Walsh’s two pointed frees made it a one-point game at the break, 0-4 to 0-3.
Conor McCrickard restored Liatroim’s three-point cushion six minutes into the second half. Cillian Leegan replied for Killanny six minutes later.
The sides traded three points each thereafter as Killany fell short and suffered a two-point defeat.
