Killian Collins’ injury-time point proved decisive as Killany scored a 1-8 to 1-7 victory at home to Donaghmoyne in their Monaghan SFC opener.
Killany got off to a better start. Killian Collins opened the scoring with a goal seven minutes in.
Scores from David Garland, Liam McDonald and Stephen Finnegan saw Donaghmoyne restore parity by the 25th minute.
The hosts regained the upper hand by half-time. A point each from Eddie Walsh and Callum Murray made it 1-2 to 0-3 at the break.
Killany started the second half with intent. Murray pushed them four points clear ten minutes into the second half.
The visitors responded impressively; Davy Garland closed the gap to a solitary point on 52 minutes.
Finnegan gave Donaghmoyne a two-point lead by finding the net two minutes later. Killanny finished with a flourish however hitting three points without reply.
Two scores from Eddie Walsh brought the hosts level 60 seconds from time before Collins landed a last-gasp winner.
