Jodie McQuillan’s last-gasp free saw Monaghan defeat Cavan 0-10 to 0-9 in the Lidl ladies football league division 2B at Templebort Bawnboy.
Monaghan led 0-5 to 0-3 at the half-time break before McQuillan levelled the game with two minutes remaining and she landed the winning score in injury time.
The Farney women led 0-4 to 0-0 inside 12 minutes with McQuillan kicking a brace of points while Muireann Atkinson and Casey Treanor were also on target.
Cavan eventually got off the mark on 18 minutes when Amy Rooney slotted over a point and the hosts trailed by two points at half-time after hitting two of the next three scores.
Geraldine Sheridan landed the equalising score on 42 minutes before points from Lauren McVeety and Amy Rooney saw Cavan move two points clear with 11 minutes remaining.
The sides subsequently traded a point each before three points from McQuillan saw Monaghan win by the smallest of margins.
