Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny has called up James McClean for the UEFA EURO 2024 qualifier against the Netherlands.
McClean was set to come into the squad for the New Zealand friendly, his final appearance in a green shirt. McClean will now travel with the squad to Amsterdam for Ireland’s final qualifying fixture.
Will Smallbone and Festy Ebosele will not travel with the squad due to injury and have been ruled out of both matches in this window. Both players have returned to their respective clubs.
Evan Ferguson, Jamie McGrath and Chiedozie Ogbene all passed fitness tests at the FAI’s base in Dublin before the squad departed to Amsterdam today.
Ferguson's presence on the flight a boost for manager Kenny. However, Ebsosele has pulled out and returned to his club in Italy.
