Shelbourne talisman Jack Moylan has been voted SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers Ireland Player-of-the-Month for October.
The 22-year-old scored a hat-trick in the crucial 3-2 win over UCD at the end of the month. Moylan went on to score a double against Drogheda last week to ensure Damien Duff's team finished fourth.
Whereas, Shels remain in the conversation for Europe, pending the outcome of Sunday's FAI Cup final.
The midfielder-turned-striker will officially join English League One side Lincoln City in January after the deal was confirmed in September.
"It was brilliant, it was the perfect send-off almost” explain Moylan. "I was delighted with it and delighted to pick up the award as well. It's a nice personal achievement to finish off things."
"I don't think anyone can say it's not a successful” season, added Moylan. “Especially if Sunday goes our way it's the best year for the club in the last 17 years”.
"I think fourth for us is a massive achievement the way we started, the way we came into the Premier Division last year with a new manager, everything's been new to us. A whole new team as well.
"Hopefully the team can kick on now next year and get further up the league, go and win titles” and get into Europe without worrying about other games."
Top Goalscorer
Moylan enjoyed a stellar season, scoring 15 goals in the Premier Division to finish joint-top of the goalscoring charts. Alongside Bohemians' Jonathan Afolabi. Moylan player-of-the-month win marks the first time in 12-years that a Shelbourne player has claimed the award.
Moylan topped the vote of Soccer Writers Ireland members, beating in-form St Patrick's Athletic midfielder Kian Leavy. Shamrock Rovers forward Rory Gaffney was third after helping his team win a fourth league title-in-a-row.
The six-man shortlist for October's Player of the Month award also featured Derry City's Cameron Dummigan, Jack Doherty of Cobh Ramblers and Waterford FC youngster Romeo Akachukwu.
