Interim head coach Eileen Gleeson wants Ireland to finish their Women’s Nations League campaign strongly.
Ireland host Hungary in their final home game of the season at Tallaght Stadium on Friday night.
Unbeaten so far in Group B1, Ireland are aiming to extend their winning run that has secured promotion to League A for the next staging of the UEFA Nations League.
I don’t think there is anyone in this squad, who think’s we can lie back and chill!” declared Gleeson.
No one thinks, we can “not be at our best for these games. Because we will always be respectful to the opposition”.
"We know we got promotion to League A but when we get to League A we’ll have a new set of challenges” explained Gleeson.
"You can look at the scoreline and say we want to be better, we want to win 5-0!” added Gleeson. “We want to score goals, but there is [several] aspects of the performance that we can do better2.
“That they can do better so we look at that, we analyse that, and look to improve it.”
"Hungary no doubt have developed through the campaign, Northern Ireland [who Ireland play in Belfast on Tuesday] have developed with their new coach”.
“We’ll be respectful of that and aware of that, pushing ourselves to be better in everything that we’re doing."
