Ireland have lost 13-15 to France in their Guinness Six Nations game, the first time Ireland have lost their opening two games since 1998.
Tries from Charles Ollivon and Damian Penaud and kicks from Mathieu Jalibert were enough to help France to their second win of the championship over a depleted Ireland.
Billy Burns had given Ireland the lead on 21 minutes with a penalty, before James Lowe was denied a try in the corner by the TMO.
France scored the first try of the game on 29 minutes, Flamboyant scrum-half Antoine Dupont was pivotal, involved in the move three times as fast hands and offloads created space for Charles Ollivon to touch down.
Though Andy Farrell will be unhappy of the poor defensive work from Jamison Gibson-Park. Matthieu Jalibert added the two points and a penalty two minutes before half-time as France led 10-3 at the break.
France grew into the game in the second-half and found their second try on 54 minutes, Dulin side stepped Lowe inside the 22, feed Damian Penaud who easily found the corner.
Ireland though weren’t done as they trailed 15-3.
A lineout inside the French 22 saw a loose French hand knocked it down up popped replacement hooker Ronan Kelleher his first international try.
Ross Byrne converted and Ireland were just five points behind with 22 minutes to play. Byrne reduced the gap to two points with a 64th minute penalty.
Alas Andy Farrell’s men could not breach the French rear-guard who recorded their first win in Dublin for 10 years and leave Ireland facing Italy in two week’s with much to ponder.
