Inniskeen booked their place in the Monaghan SFC semi-finals with a 2-16 to 1-11 win over Corduff.
Inniskeen were far too strong for Corduff winning out by eight points, having led by eight points at half-time.
Fergal Hanratty opened the scoring for Corduff after two minutes. Shane Hanratty and Seamus Kindlon responded with points for Inniskeen.
Donal Meegan rattled in a seventh minute goal and the scene was set for Inniskeen. A Meegan free and a Gareth Burns point from play had Inniskeen 1-4 to 0-1 ahead on 10 minutes.
Fergal Hanratty scored Corduff’s second point of the game on 13 minutes, it would take another 15 for Corduff to score again.
Meegan 0-2 1f, Tommy Durnin 0-2 and Sean Jones putting Inniskeen 1-9 to four points ahead at half-time. A point each from Sean and Gavin McEnaney finishing Corduff’s second-half scoring.
Fergal Hanratty opened the second-half scoring with a point from play. Inniskeen responded with points from Tommy Durnin and Donal Meegan.
However, Corduff staged a mini-revival through three Fergal Hanratty points (2f’s) and a Gavin McEnaney point. Cutting the lead to five points.
However, Tommy Durnin put the game to bed with a 46th minute goal to restore an eight point lead.
Another Meegan free was the beginning of the sides exchanging six points. Keith McEnaney, Fergal Hanratty and Jamie King all adding Corduff scores. Oisin Monaghan and Ciaran Mc Nulty adding to Inniskeen’s total.
Ronan Meegan fired over Inniskeen’s 15th point of the day on 60 minutes with Durnin completing the scoring five minutes into injury time.
Inniskeen will meet Scotstown in the Monaghan senior semi-final on October 13th.
