Cavan GAA, Cavan LGFA and Cavan Camogie Association have signed a landmark Memorandum of Agreement in relation to the development of the Polo Grounds Centre of Excellence and the use of all facilities at Kingspan Breffni.
Following numerous meetings an agreement was reached which will benefit the three organisations. Allowing all three access to high-quality facilities and resources; leading to an inclusive environment, supporting the growth and development of athletes across Gaelic Football, Hurling, Ladies' Football, and Camogie.
The GAA, LGFA and Camogie Assocation are set to merge into a new organisation by 2027.
“This agreement is a testament to our commitment to providing the best possible environment for all our athletes” said Cavan GAA Chairperson Kieran Callaghan. “By working together with LGFA and the Camogie Association, we can ensure that our facilities are developed to their fullest potential, benefiting the entire GAA community in Cavan”.
Philip Wilson, Chairperson of Cavan LGFA, added: “We are excited about the opportunities this agreement presents". “Sharing facilities and resources will not only improve our training and match-day experiences but also build stronger relationships between our organisations, promoting unity and mutual support”.
Shane Woods, Chairperson of Cavan Camogie, commented; “This is a historic day for camogie in Cavan. “The enhanced access to facilities and collaborative efforts will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and success of our sport”.
