Mickey Graham wants further improvement from his Cavan side even though their already in the Tailteann cup knockout round.
Cavan are guaranteed a place in the preliminary-quarter-finals after their 0-18 to 2-6 win over London on Saturday. A final group meeting awaits with Offaly, where a draw would see Cavan win the group.
“We’re still looking to improve and we’ve a lot of improving to do” explained Graham when quizzed on the attitude for the Offaly game.
“We’re looking to put a 70 minutes performance in!” declared Graham. “We feel that at the moment we’re only playing for 20-25 minutes at a time. So we have a lot of improving to do”.
Cavan and Offaly have both won their opening two games, meaning they will both advance in the competition. However, the group winners progress to the quarter-finals. Second placed team move to the preliminary-quarter-final round.
“We kept London to eight scores explained Graham. “We scored 18 ourselves, we set a target of 20 for the day and didn’t hit it”.
Graham had earlier inducted some big names like Dara McVeety and Conor Madden would sit out the group stage. While, Graham explained these players are nearing a return.
The “lads know again we’ve lads who are returning from injury and there’s other lads chomping at the bit to get in there”.
“Some lads will be looking over their shoulder now” declared Graham. “We’ve lads returning from injury and we’ve two weeks until our next game, so hopefully that will help”.
