Gowna landed five goals to secure their 10th Cavan senior title with a 17-point victory over Kingscourt Stars.
Gowna found their opening goal 17 minutes into the first-half as they ran out 5-15 to 0-13 winners in Kingspan Breffni.
However, Kingscourt had edged that opening quarter. Kingscourt having led six points to two until that opening Gowna goal.
Padraig Faulkner, Peter Corrigan, Jordan Morris, Joe Dillon and Barry Reilly all sending over points for Kingscourt.
Ryan Brady belting the ball to the roof of the net in on 17 minutes. Eoghan Hartin levelled the game moments later.
It went from bad to worse for Kingscourt from the restart. Cian Madden flicked the ball to Darragh McConnon who blasted home Gowna’s second goal.
Barry Reilly attempted to calm Kingscourt nerves with a point. Conor Casey and Joe Dillon exchanged scores before Oisin Pearson fisted the ball to the net for Gowna’s third goal.
Gowna led 3-5 to 0-9 at half-time, however, the half-time team talk had limited impact for Kingscourt.
Two Tiarnan Madden goals inside 10 second-half minutes put the game beyond the stars. While stars added three further points, the game was well and turly over.
Morris struck a brace of frees either side of Tiarnan and Conor Madden points. Tiarnan and Madden added two more as did Cian Madden and Eoghan Hartin.
Daire Madden had the final say as Gowna ran out 17-point winners. Cavan champions Gowna will face Donegal champions Naomh Conaill in the Ulster championship.
