Gowna opened the defence of their Keirnan’s service stations Cavan SFC title with a four point victory over Lacken.
The defending champions scoring a 1-18 to 3-8 victory in Kingspan Breffni. Gowna led by two points at half-time, 0-12 to 2-4.
Lacken’s opening goal arrived 11 minutes into the first-half, when Raymond Galligan fisted to the net. Gowna turned it around and led eight points to 1-4 on 24 minutes.
A minute later Lacken were back in front thanks to a second Galligan goal. However a Cian Madden inspired Gowna saw them lead 12 points to 2-4 at the break.
Three minutes after the restart Conor Casey found the net for Gowna. Lacken though weren’t to give up on it that easily, Mark Wilson with Lacken’s third goal of the game on 40 minutes.
While, Darragh O’Reilly brought it back to a one point game, there was no shock ending.
Tiarnan Madden, Cian Madden and Ryan Madden all contributed to the scoring as Gowna ran out victors 1-18 (21) to 3-8 (17).
