Gowna bridged a 20-year gap with a 17 point victory over Killygarry to land the Cavan championship.
Ryan Donohoe found the net putting Gowna two points early on. Gowna led at half-time 1-6 to 1-3, Martin Reilly with Killygarry’s goal.
Ryan Donohoe and Cian Madden (3) moved Gowna into a 1-10 to 1-4 Killygarry. Two Madden’s frees and Donohoe made it 2-13 to 1-8 with six minutes remaining.
Oisin Pierson sealed the victory with three minutes of normal time remaining to make it 2-13 to 1-9 and seal Gowna’s first Cavan championship since 2002.
