Gowna booked their place in the Kiernan service stations Cavan SFC semi-finals running in goals against Ballyhaise.
The defending champions became the first team to book a place in the semi-finals after a four point win, running in three goals.
It took less than 60 seconds for Oisin Pierson to open the scoring for Gowna in this Cavan quarter-final. Ryan Donohoe doubling the advantage a minute later.
The defending champions threw down the gauntlet when Conor Madden raced through to rattle the Ballyhaise net. 1-2 to no score after five minutes.
David Brady responded with the opening Ballyhaise point a minute later. Martin Conarty added Ballyhaise's second point with 10 minutes on the clock.
However, the Ballyhaise comeback didn’t last long. Seamie Hartin with Gowna's third point a minute later. When Robbie Fitzpatrick smashed in Gowna's second goal on 15 minutes, the game looked up.
Cian Madden made it 2-4 to two points on 28 minutes. Michael Brady sent over a free a minute before half-time, Ballyhaise#s first score in 20 minutes. Ryan Brady closed out the first scoring as Gowna led 2-5 to 0-3 at half-time.
Gowna looked to pick-up where they left off with Oisin Pierson firing over a point after the restart. Pauric Moore wasn’t letting Ballyhaise go down without a fight. A free and a point inside a minute as Gowna led 2-6 to 0-5.
Again the Ballyhaise comeback was cut short when Gowna produced a 37th minute counter attack with Conor Brady slotting the ball into the net. Gowna leading by 10 points, 3-6 to 0-5.
Michael Brady kept Ballyhaise alive with a converted free on 40 minutes. Eoin Clarke added Ballyhaise seventh point a minute later.
Oisin Pierson converted a 44th minute free for his third point of the night.
Adam Heaslip gave Ballyhaise hope of a comeback with a 46th minute goal. A Ryan Donohoe points saw Gowna lead by seven with 10 minutes remaining.
Kevin Tierney and Michael Brady brought it back to a five point game. However, two Robbie Fitzpatrick points restored Gowna’s seven point lead.
Three injury time points from Eoin Clarke, Darren Reilly and Kevin Tierney put some respectability on the score-line as Gowna won out 3-10 to 1-12.
