Gowna came back from the brink to book a place in the Cavan SFC quarter-finals with a one point over Killygarry.
The defending champions where facing the exit door as they trailed 2-7 to eight points with 20 minutes remaining. However, the champions came back to win 15 points to 2-8.
Gowna led six points to five at half-time. Indeed, Killygarry stunned the champions with a goal two minutes after the restart. Gowna fought back with two Cian Madden points (1f) to level the game.
However, points from Martin Reilly and Cian Keaney and Darragh Lovett’s 39th minute goal had Killygarry five points ahead.
Gowna to their credit rallied. Three Cian Madden points (1f) and one each from Tiarnan Madden and Conor Casey had the game all square on 55 minutes.
Points from Conor Casey and a Cian Madden free sealed victory for Gowna. 15 points to 2-8.
The victory see’s Gowna finish seventh in the Cavan SFC group table and face Ballyhaise in the quarter-final. Whereas, Killygarry finish 10th and enter relegation play-offs.
