Gowna advanced to the quarter-final stage of the Kiernan service station Cavan SFC with a four point win over Castlerahan.
Gowna winning out 2-10 to 12 points; making it three wins from three and a quarter-final place with a round remaining.
Gowna led 1-6 to four points at half-time. Their goal coming from Ryan Brady after just eight minutes of play. A lead Gowna never gave up.
Castlerahan battled back into the game in the second-half, Gowna led 1-8 to eight points with 13 minutes remaining.
Whereas, Castlerahan responded point for point through the second-half and trailed by three with two minutes of normal time on the clock.
However, points from Karl Cosgrove and Cormac Daly made it a one point game two minutes into injury.
It was to be Gowna’s day in the end as Conor Madden landed a goal moments later to seal a 2-10 to 12 point victory.

The win see’s Gowna progress to the quarter-finals along with Killygarry, Crosserlough, and Kingscourt Stars.
The final round of group games takes place next weekend. The games are; Castlerahan v Crosserlough, Kingscourt v Killygarry, Cavan Gaels v Lacken, Laragh Utd v Mullahoran, Lavey v Ballinagh, Ramor Utd v Gowna.
