The GAA have completed a U-turn on cup presentations on finals day. Following the passing of a motion at the recent congress that only the captain of the winning team could be presented with the cup to "tidy up match presentations", a follow up motion has been approved to allow another player to join the captain for the acceptance of the trophy. There had been an outcry when the motion was originally passed paticularly by clubs and amalagameted teams that would have joint captains leading their sides.
The GAA have also given the go ahead for provincial pre-season competitions to return including the Dr Mc Kenna cup, FBD League and O'Byrne cup. That decision was made on the back of collective training returning for intercounty squads from the 8th of December. Speaking to the sportsdesk, Monaghan forward Conor Mc Manus noted the return of the pre-season competitions will benefit younger players looking to break into the county panel
