Ireland defence coach Simon Easterby remains optimistic that Jack Conan will be fit to play in the upcoming Rugby World Cup.
The Irish team are heading to Portugal for a warm weather training camp but the number eight didn’t travel.
The 31 year-old picked up a foot injury during last weekend’s opening World Cup warm-up friendly victory over Italy. He was later seen on the bench in a protective moon boot.
It was decided the Leinster back-row should stay in Dublin for recovery instead of making the trip to Portugal.
Easterby isn’t overly concerned about Conan’s fitness at the moment but they await more feedback on the injury.
Ireland hope for further clarity on Conan’s fitness ahead of their second friendly against England next week.
Meanwhile, Craig Casey (back) and Jimmy O’Brien (shoulder) will participate in the training camp having recovered from recent knocks.
Ireland go up against England at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday August 19th.
Andy Farrell's men round off their world cup preparation against Samoa at the same venue seven days later.
