While the GAA action will be taking a break over the festive season attention is already turning to the pre-season intercounty tournaments.
The launch and draw for the Bank of Ireland Dr. McKenna cup took place recently. Cavan were drawn in Group B alongside Down and Derry.
Cavan get their campaign underway on Wednesday evening January third, when they welcome Derry to Kingspan Breffni. Seven days later they face an away trip to Down.
Monaghan have similar fixtures in Group C as Antrim will be the visitors to St Mary's Park Castleblayney on the first Wednesday of January. Followed by a trip to Brewster Park to take on Fermanagh.
Group A will open with Donegal welcoming Armagh to Ballybofey. Tyrone are the other team in group A have their first outing on Sunday the 7th against Donegal in Ballybofey.
The final for the competition is scheduled for January 20th, the week before the start of the Allianz football league.
