Daniel Wiffen has won a record-breaking seventh medal for Ireland at the Olympics.
Wiffen claimed a bronze medal after finishing in third place at the 1500 metre freestyle final. The Armagh man clocked a time of 14:39.63.
Indeed, Ireland now have seven medals at the Olympics breaking the previous record of six set at London 2012.
It’s Wiffen’s second medal at Paris having already won gold at the 800 metre freestyle final earlier this week.
Bobby Finke from the USA retained his title and won gold by setting a new world record in the 1500 metre freestyle final.
Finke clocked a time of 14:30.67 while Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri finished second in a time of 14:33.55.
