Crosserlough have claimed their first Hotel Kilmore Cavan senior football title since 1972 with a 13 points to eight win over Kingscourt Stars.
The Kilnaleck side were superior overall and led by eight points to six at the interval.
Crosserlough had a five point cushion with three minutes remaining in the first-half before a hat-trick of points by David Lennon’s side tightened up the scoreboard
Cian Shekleton chipped in with a brace and Padraig Faulkner was also on target as Kingscourt trailed by two points at the break.
Crosserlough were denied a few goals in the first half by Kingscourt goalkeeper James Farrelly who was outstanding while their opponents shot seven wides during this period.
Jimmy Higgins’s men made the better start to the second-half and stretched the margin to five points by the second water break.
Kingscourt only registered two points in the second-half, the latter was a pointed free by Barry Reilly in the 50th minute.
Patrick Lynch slotted over the final score of the game deep into injury time sealing a tenth senior county title for Crosserlough.
