Crosserlough pushed Lacken as the made the semi-final of the Cavan senior football championship.
Lacken had no answer to the Crosserlough side who won out 22 points, 4-18 to eight points.
Not even 60 seconds where on the clock when Peter Smith opened the scoring with a Crosserlough point. From the restart Paddy Lynch scored the game’s opening goal.
Killian Galligan opened Lacken’s scoring with a free moments later and kicked a point to make it 1-1 to 0-2 on nine minutes. That was Lacken’s final score for 21 minutes.
Paddy Lynch 0-3 (1 free, 1 45), Pierce Smith 0-2 and Oran Reilly all kicked points. Killian Galligan scored his third point of the game a minute into injury time. Crosserlough led 1-7 to 0-3 at half-time.
Galligan scored his fourth score of the game on the restart, but it was false hope. Paddy Lynch, Brand Boylan, Shane McManus, David Shelvey and Peter Smith made it 1-12 to 0-4.
Shane Finnegan found Lacken’s fifth point on 43 minutes. Darren Gaffney restored Crosserlough’s advantage a minute later.
Donal McSorley exchanged points with Gaffney. Another Killian Galligan free and a point from Peter Galligan made it 1-14 to eight points on 48 minutes.
Lacken wouldn’t find a score for the remainder of the game.
John Cooke scored a Crosserlough point on 49 minutes. Three minutes later Adrian Smith lobbed Raymond Galligan for Crosserlough’s second goal.
Brand Boylan and two Paddy Lynch points (1 free) made it 2-18 to eight points.
Crosserlough rubbed salt deep in the Lacken wounds with late goals from James Smith and Oran Reilly as Lacken collapsed and Crosserlough advanced to the semi-finals.
