Crosserlough won the Cavan All County football league title following a 2-16 to 3-6 victory over Kingscourt in the decider at Crosskeys.
Crosserlough led 0-6 to 1-0 on 19 minutes. Kingscourt’s Peter Corrigan found the net on 12 minutes while Paddy Lynch accounted for half of Crosserlough’s tally.
Crosserlough kept Kingscourt at arm’s length during the remainder of the half. Paddy Lynch’s goal on 21 minutes saw them lead 1-7 to 1-3 at half-time.
The 2020 Cavan county champions found another gear after the restart. Peter Smith’s goal four minutes into the second-half opened up a seven-point lead.
Smith made it an 11-point game nine minutes from time before Kingscourt made a late resurgence.
Goals from Barry Reilly (penalty) and Jordan Morris embellished the scoreboard from Kingscourt’s perspective but they still fell short in the end.
What it’s all about, community, family and friends.
