Corduff reached the Ulster intermediate club football championship quarter-finals following a 1-9 to 1-8 victory over Shane O’Neill’s at the Athletic Grounds.
The Monaghan champions led 0-5 to 0-1 at half-time and held off a second-half resurgence from Shane O’Neill’s to win by the smallest of margins.
Shane O’Neill’s struggled while playing against the wind in the first half; Paul O’Rourke getting their only score in the opening period.
Diarmuid Marron and Fergal Hanratty scored a brace each for Corduff while Jason Hand was also on target.
Corduff’s Jordan McGarrell found the net 13 minutes into the second half and added a point three minutes later giving Corduff an eight-point cushion.
Paul O’Rourke’s goal four minutes from time reduced the margin to three points but the Armagh champions still fell short despite hitting two of the last three scores.
