Corduff opened their Monaghan senior football championship campaign with a 0-13 to 1-8 victory at home to Cremartin.
Corduff led 0-2 to 0-1 inside 15 minutes. Jonny McGuigan and Fergal Hanratty were on target for the hosts while Jonny McGuigan opened Cremartin’s account.
Cremartin regained the upper hand by half-time. Scores from Jamie Mooney and Conor Eccles made it 0-3 to 0-2 at the break.
Hanratty edged the hosts back in front five minutes into the second half. Three minutes later Stephen Mooney restored parity.
The sides subsequently traded a point each before Corduff replied with five successive points.
Scores from Keith McEnaney (two), Dylan McEnaney, Gavin McEnaney, and Padraic Keenan saw Corduff lead 0-10 to 0-5.
McGuigan eventually replied for Cremartin on 50 minutes, six minutes later Hanratty opened up a six-point game.
Cremartin finished the game with a flourish scoring 1-1 without reply. Jack Carragher registered a late consolation goal but the visitors still fell short.
