Cootehill Celtic and Castleblayney will contest the Ulster junior semi-final after both came through their quarter-finals.
Cootehill made short work of Erne Gaels with a 4-17 to five point win in Fermanagh. The Fermanagh side where blown away in the first-half trailing 3-10 to 0-3 at half-time.
Just six minutes were on the clock when Rian Delaney found the Erne Gaels net. Dylan Adams grabbed Cootehill’s second one minute later.
Points from Lonan McKenna, Philip McCabe, Rian Delaney, Mark Moffett 0-4 3f, Diarmaid Carney 0-2, Gavin Fitzpatrick had Cootehill 2-10 to three points up on 29 minutes.
Philip McCabe’s goal killed off any slim chance of a comeback as Cootehill led by 16 points at half-time.
Rian Delaney, Philip McCabe, Dylan Adams all added points for Cootehill by the 44th minute. Adams grabbed Cootehill’s fourth goal of the game. McCabe, Ben Brennan and Emmet Magee added points to put the gloss on the victory.
Castleblayney 1-15 Cloughmills 2-9
Castleblayney will face Cootehill in the Ulster JHC semi-final after coming back to beat Cloughmills 1-15 to 2-9. The Antrim side led seven points to six.
Leo Moloney 0-3 2f, Niall Garland, Thomas Hughes and Declan Hughes with Castleblayney’s first half-points.
Moloney levelled the game two minutes into the second-half. The sides exchanged scores with a Moloney free, before Declan Hughes found the net on 43 minutes.
Two Thomas Hughes points moved Castleblayney 1-10 to nine points ahead as the game entered the fourth quarter. Moloney added one from play and converted a free to leave six between the sides with 10 minutes to play.
Brian McGuigan maded it 1-13 to 0-9 as Cloughmills Stephen Smyth brought it back to four points with a goal two minutes from time.
Moloney and a Niall Garland free made it a six point game in injury time. Corey Blair scored Cloughmills second goal but it wasn’t enough as Blayney won out 1-15 to 2-9.
The Ulster junior hurling club semi-final is set for Saturday November 11.
