Conor McCarthy has landed a PwC Football All-Star for 2023.
McCarthy landed the left-wing-back berth, having stared in the Monaghan team which made it to the All-Ireland football semi-final.
Indeed, the Scotstown man was a pivotal player in the Monaghan team in 2023. In fact, McCarthy scored two points in the second-half after being switched to wing-back in the Ulster championship win over Tyrone.
Whereas, the All-Ireland series saw great success for McCarthy and Monaghan; scoring three points in a draw with Derry and 1-2 in a victory over Clare.
The preliminary quarter-final against Kildare was heading for extra-time until McCarthy's dagger point sealed victory for the Farney, setting-up a quarter-final with Armagh.
Another three points from left-half-back in what turned out to be a famous quarter-final victory. Although the mammoth encounter took its toil on McCarthy who watched the penalty shoot-out victory from the bench.
While Dublin overcame Monaghan in the All-Ireland semi-final. The Farney men inspired by McCarthy pushed them to the line.
Conor McCarthy is the 10th Monaghan player to land an All-Star and a 14th all-star in total.
