Clontibret bounced back from their opening-round loss to Donaghmoyne with a 2-19 to 0-13 victory away to Aughnamullen in the Monaghan SFC.
The sides were deadlocked at four points apiece at the first water break before Michael P O’Dowd’s goal on 20 minutes helped the visitors open up a five-point gap.
Clontibret subsequently gained the upper hand and landed four of the next six scores to lead 1-10 to 0-6 at half-time.
Clontibret dominated the third quarter and moved nine points clear at the second water break before Francis Hughes’ goal made it a 13-point game one minute from time.
Kieran Duffy replied with an injury-time point for Aughnamullen but the hosts still suffered a 12-point defeat in the end.
