Cootehill native Finn Sherlock has agreed to join German giants TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
Sherlock will move to Hoffenheim from Shelbourne on Monday July 1st, 2024.
Indeed, Sherlock joined Shelbourne FC in January 2022 from Cootehill Harps. Whereas, the Cavan native was capped at International level at U15 with the Republic of Ireland by Jason Donoghue.
In 2023, Sherlock made several appearances for our U17 National League team at Shelbourne FC as an under-15 player.
Sherlock is currently Shelbourne U17 captain
In 2024, he featured in several of Damien Duff’s first team squads and scored in pre-season for the first team against Bray at the age of 15, one of the youngest to hit the net for a senior Reds side. Currently, Sherlock is the U17 National League team captain.
“Everybody at Shelbourne FC is so proud of Finn” said Shelbourne FC Technical Director Luke Byrne.
“He has been top class in everything he has done since joining us in 2022. His attitude, application and determination mark him out as a special young player”.
“He embarks on the next stage of his career with our full support and we will watch his career closely with great pride”.
“It is yet another example of the education and pathway we aspire to provide for the young players in our academy. Finn and his family are always welcome at Tolka Park.”
“I want to thank Colm (Barron, Shelbourne FC Academy Director), my coaches, and teammates and everyone at Shelbourne FC for everything they have done for me” said Sherlock.
“The support and development I’ve received here have been incredible, and I’ve learned so much about the game”.
“The club has given me a fantastic football education, and I am deeply grateful for all the opportunities and experiences”.
“I’ll always appreciate my time here and look forward to carrying these lessons with me to Germany”.
