Cavan suffered defeat for the first-time in Allianz league division four losing 1-11 to 1-7 to Tipperary at Kingspan Breffni.
Tipperary led 1-5 to 1-4 at half-time before a superior second-half display saw the Tipperary emerge victorious in the end.
The opening stages were evenly contested with the sides tied at three points each on 18 minutes; Jason McLoughlin, Gerard Smith and Caoimhin O’Reilly were on target for Cavan.
Three minutes later, Tipperary moved four points clear when Conor Sweeney found the net. Caoimhin O’Reilly’s goal on the stroke of half-time left a point between them at the interval.
Sweeney restored Tipperary’s four-point cushion within 12 minutes of the restart before Patrick Lynch eventually opened Cavan’s second half account three minutes later.
The visitors kept the scoreboard ticking over and points from Sweeney and Jack Kennedy made it a five-point game with nine minutes remaining.
Four minutes later, Gearoid McKiernan slotted over a free but Cavan still came up short in the end. The Breffni men failed to score from play in the second half.
