Cavan continued their perfect start to the current Tailteann cup campaign beating London 0-18 to 2-6 at McGovern Park, Ruislip.
Mickey Graham’s men were a point clear at the break before a dominant second-half display resulted in a six-point victory.
Cavan were playing against the wind in the opening half but still led 0-5 to 0-3 on 22 minutes.
60 seconds later, London’s Liam Gavaghan found the net before Ryan O’Neill levelled the game on 29 minutes.
Cavan regained the upper hand at half-time. The Breffni men landed two of the next three scores to lead 0-8 to 1-4.
Cavan raised the intensity after the restart. Five successive scores saw them move six points clear 11 minutes into the second half.
Paddy Lynch accounted for three points while James Smith and McKiernan were also on target for the visitors.
Gavaghan opened London’s second-half account on 50 minutes before Cavan replied with two points from McKiernan and Lynch.
London responded impressively; Enda Lynn registered the hosts’ second goal on 57 minutes making it a four-point game.
The comeback was short-lived however. Points from Lynch and Conor Rehill sealed a six-point victory for the Breffni men.
Cavan sit atop of group one in the Tailteann Cup with four points. Offaly and Laois meet on Saturday evening.
