Cavan got back to winning ways after a deserved six point victory over Longford 1-19 to 1-13 in Kingspan Breffni.
The teams cancelled each other out until moments before the first water break when Gearoid McKiernan found the Longford net as Cavan led 1-3 to 0-3.
Cavan then went on a three point scoring run thanks to two from Oisin Kiernan, Caoimhan McGovern.
However Longford rallied with scores from Iarla O Sullivan and two from Joseph Hagan as the sides exchanged scored with Longford adding points from Liam Connerton, Darren Gallagher, Daniel Mimnagh and Robbie Smyth as Cavan led 1-9 to 10 points at the break.
Cavan however pulled away in the third quarter, Longford’s only scores coming from Darran Gallagher (free) and Robbie Smyth (mark) as built up a 1-16 to 12 point lead.
While Cavan added scores from Oisin Pierson, Gearoid McKiernan, Padraig Faulkner and Patrick Lynch.
Longford got back into the game when Darren Gallagher converted a 69th minute penalty after Dessie Reynolds was taken down and Patrick Lynch received a black card.
10 minutes were added on at the end but it wasn’t enough for Longford who lost out 1-19 to 1-13.
