Cavan made a winning start to the McKenna cup by beating Antrim 2-10 to 0-9 win over Antrim in their second round clash at Kelly Park, Portglenone.
Two first-half goals helped lay a solid foundation for victory in the first half after which Cavan led 2-5 to 0-6 and the visitors held on for a seven-point victory in the end.
Martin Reilly’s early goal helped Cavan lead 1-4 to 0-2 on 24 minutes before three successive points saw Antrim make it a two-point game four minutes later.
Brandon Boylan registered Cavan’s second goal on 33 minutes and 60 seconds later Antrim's Pat Shivers replied with a point resulting in a five-point margin at the break.
Six minutes from time, Oisin Brady stretched Cavan’s lead to nine points and while the hosts landed three of the last four scores, Cavan still ran out comfortable winners.
