A late goal blitz saw Cavan secure their first home Allianz league win in 14-months over Louth at Kingspan Breffni.
Louth’s Ryan Burns gave the visitors the lead after just two minutes with a two-pointer. This gave Louth a strong platform to take control of the game.
However, a 14th minute Jason McLoughlin goal brought Cavan level, 1-2 to Louth’s five points. Tommy Durnin and Andy McDonnell landed a two-pointer each, resulting in Louth leading by two points at the interval.
That gap remained until the 18th minute of the second-half when Conor Madden smashed over a two-pointer for Cavan.
However, Madden’s scoring wasn’t done. 28 second-half minutes elapsed when the madness began as Cavan snatched the lead back through two goals.
The first from Madden, catching the goalkeeper away from home and looped the ball in over him to the net.
A wonderful counter-attack resulted in a Gearoid McKiernan goal, putting the hosts into the driving seat.
It proved too much for Louth to come back into this game as Cavan held on to seal victory, 3-15 to 18 points.
Cavan recording their first win of the campaign while, Louth go two defeats in a row in Allianz league division two.
