The Cavan ladies footballers have retained division two status for another year following a 3-11 to 1-12 victory over Tyrone at Kingspan Breffni Park.
Cavan started better and led 1-4 to 0-4 at the first water break; Geraldine Sheridan’s goal on eight minutes separating the sides.
Parity was restored on the half-hour mark when Niamh O’Neill found the net and she added another point on the stroke of half-time as Tyrone led 1-7 to 1-6.
Cavan moved four points clear with ten minutes remaining when Geraldine Sheridan added her second goal and four minutes later, a penalty goal from Lauren McVeety made it a seven-point game.
Tyrone finished the game by hitting three of the last four scores but Cavan still run out five-point winners and have avoided the relegation play-offs.
