The Cavan ladies footballers retained their TG4 All-Ireland Intermediate status for another year following a convincing win over Antrim.
A superb performance saw Mickey O’Rourke’s side win out 3-11 to 0-7 at Inniskeen.
Cavan made a blistering start and led 0-6 to 0-3 after 26 minutes. Zara Fay, Sinead Levingstone, Deirbhile McCaffrey, Amy Wharton (two) and Ally Cahill on target for Cavan.
The farney side finished the first half with a flourish. Two quickfire goals from Sinead Levingstone made it a nine-point game two minutes from the break.
Ciara Brady followed up with another point two minutes into first-half stoppage time as the Breffni women lead 2-7 to 0-3 at half-time.
Cavan moved 14 points clear within four minutes of the restart. Amy Wharton registered a penalty goal.
Antrim replied with four of the last seven scores but the farney were worth their convincing victory.
The result sees the Breffni side preserve their intermediate status. Antrim will get a second chance against either Offaly or Wicklow.
