Cavan hurlers' unbeaten record ended by Longford

Cavan suffered their first defeat of the new campaign.

Cavan's unbeaten record in the Lory Meagher cup has ended following a 0-25 to 1-19 defeat to Longford at Kingspan Breffni.

Longford led 0-8 to 0-3 inside 21 minutes, 60 seconds later Cillian Sheanon’s goal made it a two-point game.

Both managers where sent-off earlier in the first-half for an off field incident

Cian Darcy restored Longford’s four-point cushion on 27 minutes and the visitors held on to lead by the same margin at the break; 0-12 to 1-5.

Cavan’s Nicholas Kenny levelled the game nine minutes from time. However, Longford replied with six of the next nine scores and claimed a narrow victory.
