The Cavan hurlers opened their Allianz hurling league division 3A campaign with a 1-13 to 0-14 victory over Longford at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.
Longford led 0-5 to 0-4 on 21 minutes and landed three of the next four scores to lead 0-8 to 0-5 at half-time.
Cavan moved two points clear on 43 minutes when Canice Maher found the net before Longford’s Matthew Hawes levelled the game eight minutes later.

Hawes gave Longford a two-point lead eight minutes from time before three points from Canice Maher and one from Jack Barry saw Cavan emerge victorious.
