Cavan got life in Allianz League division three off to a losing start as Fermanagh recorded a 15 points to 14 victory in Brewster Park.
Cavan had started well, Patrick Lynch with three early points as the sides were locked three points apiece at the first water break.
Further points from Connor Smith and Lynch saw the game tied at five points apiece a minute before the break, before the game turned on a straight red card for James Smith.
Raymond Galligan free saw Cavan lead at the break by six points to five.
Caoimhan McGovern made it seven points to five right after the break, but Fermanagh levelled the game with points from Ciaran Corrigan and Sean Quigley.
The hosts were then reduced to 14 when James Mc Mahon saw the line for a second yellow card with Caoimhan McGovern restoring Cavan’s lead on 42 minutes.
Gearóid McKiernan made it nine points to eight six minutes later but points from Ciaran Corrigan and Sean Quigley moved Fermanagh 10 points to nine ahead.
Conor Brady equalised on 59 minutes, Sean Quigley and Conor Madden exchanged points as it stood 11 points each.
Corrigan restored Fermanagh’s lead before receiving a black card 63 minutes, but Cavan couldn’t make the numerical advantage count as Sean Quigley moved them two ahead.
Gearóid McKiernan and Quigley exchanged points as the game moved into injury time with Ciaran Corrigan putting two between the sides in the fourth minute of injury time.
Gearóid McKiernan sent over a 75th minute free but it was too little too latte as Fermanagh won out by a point 0-15 to 0-14.
