East Cavan Eagles made two from two with victory over Swords Thunder in the ALSAA Sports Centre, Dublin.
The team prevailed with an admirable score of 62 points, 23 ahead of their opponent’s 39 writes Conor Smith.
After winning their opening game against Carlow in the MissQuote.ie Division-1 National Ladies Basketball League. The Cavan Eagles were not taking anything for granted at all going up against such a formidable Dublin team with established experience in the competition.
Very modest and aware of their newness, eagles provided an engaging performance for audience members courtside.
Speaking with Shannonside Northern Sound head coach Dave Baker and vice coach Carol Verschoyle both agreed there was “a lot to improve on from last week defensively” and the tactic for today’s game was to “stick to our guns, stay patient, stick to the process and then see the rewards”.
Keen to point out the advantage of being seen as an ‘underdog’ in the league, head coach Dave sees that it puts the pressure back on the other teams and focuses the players to concentrate on every performance, concluding determinedly “for us it’s about what we do”.
Vice Coach Carol offered heartfelt thanks on behalf of the team to all the supporters who travelled from Virginia to cheer the East Cavan Eagles on courtside today and extended gratitude to everyone involved for their continual help.
The Cavan Eagles host The Oblate Dynamos in the Virginia Show Centre next Saturday, October 15th.
