Cavan reached the Tailteann Cup semi-finals following a 2-16 to 0-13 win over Fermanagh at Brewster Park, Enniskillen.
Cavan led 2-5 to 0-7 lead at the break and kept the scoreboard ticking over in the second half to run out comfortable winners.
Just 14 seconds had elapsed when Cavan found the net. Thomas Galligan won the throw-in and finished the net after a penetrating run through the heart of Fermanagh’s defence.
The sides traded four points each making it a three-point game on 19 minutes. Five minutes later, Padraig Faulkner found the net which helped Cavan to a four-point lead at the break.
Cavan added four further points before Sean Quigley eventually opened Fermanagh’s second-half account on 51 minutes. The Breffni men were still seven points clear.
Gearoid McKiernan stretched Cavan’s lead to nine points 13 minutes from time and the sides subsequently traded four points each resulting in a convincing win for the visitors.
Fermanagh are now out of the competition while Cavan are headed for the semi-finals where they’ll play either Sligo, Westmeath or Offaly.
