Tyrone's defence of the Bank of Ireland Dr. Mc Kenna cup would look to be over after a heavy defeat to Cavan on Tuesday night in Kingspan Breffni. The All Ireland champions who only returned from a celebratory team holiday in Florida at the beginning of the week were no match for a Breffni side who were having their 2nd outing in the competition as they fell to a 1-17 to 0-05 point defeat. It is a victory that could give Cavan a chance of making the semi finals should Tyrone defeat Armagh in the final group game on Saturday, as they now have a superior score difference. Speaking on co-commentary last night at the game, former Cavan manager Terry Hyland remarked that the victory had to be taken in context but it was an impressive performance from the home side
Elsewhere in the competition Antrim who had their first outing of 2022 were 1-12 to 1-10 winners over Down.
