Cavan produced a 12 point turnaround to beat fellow division two strugglers Westmeath in Mullingar.
An early Danny McCartan two-pointer in the fourth minute gave Westmeath some daylight on the score-line.
Daylight that proved to be a strong foundation to take control of the game as they raced into an 11-point lead.
A second James Smith score followed by Gearoid McKiernan did not hinder the hosts, dominance, but it was late drama that resulted in a Jack Geoghegan red card.
A Jamie Gonoud black card gave Cavan the springboard to launch a second-half comeback. Nine points without reply at the start of the second-half, including two-pointers from Oisin Brady and Gearoid McKiernan got Cavan back within three points.

Darragh Lovett floated over a wonderful two-pointer to make the game safe as Cavan sealed the victory with a four point deficit.
